This post is a follow up to our post January 2025 on NASA’s Artemis project. We intend to focus on the latest news on Artemis providing more information on Artemis missions.
NASA’s Artemis project Intends to “explore the Moon for scientific discovery, technology advancement and to learn how to live and work on another world as we prepare for human missions to Mars.”
NASA intends to establish “human’s first long-term presence on the Moon.”
Artemis I “was an uncrewed flight test of the Space Launch System and the Orion spacecraft around the Moon.” Artemis II “will be the first crewed flight test of the Space Launch System and the Orion spacecraft around the Moon.”
Artemis III “will send the first humans to explore the region near the lunar South Pole.” Artemis IV “debuts humanity’s first lunar space station, a larger more powerful version of the SLS rocket, and new mobile launcher.”
You will recall our Jan25 post explained the name Artemis was chosen in 2017 by NASA referring “to the Greek goddess of the hunt,” and referring to “NASA’s ambitious human space flight program which aims to return humans to the Moon and eventually send them to Mars, starting with the uncrewed Artemis I mission and planning for future crewed missions like Artemis II.”
As a reminder, we recommended you get used to the website nasa.gov and visit it regularly to learn more about these and other missions and how they are progressing.
Yes, we continue to endure society’s missteps but fortunately we are continuing to explore space.
